Founded by David Macdonald inventor of the now world famous Old Macs Multi-purpose horse boot, Macs Equine specializes in the manufacture and worldwide distribution of its own unique and innovative products exclusively for the equine industry.

Macs Equine is the trading name for the Australian owned and based company Macram Pty. Ltd. (ABN 30 090 975 509) All Macs Equine products are patented or patent pending.

David has worked with horses for over thirty years and has seen many great advances in how we view and relate to our horses due to many innovative products entering the market place. He has continued to develop innovative products such as the revolutionary Cool Heat horse blanket.

David spent his early years working on the family cattle property then worked on outback Australian sheep and cattle stations before venturing to the USA. While there he worked on ranches and starting young horses in New Mexico and Texas before working as a farrier for a number of years.

In 1998 David invented the Old Macs multi purpose horse boot due to the lack of a practical working hoof boot on the market. It was also during this time that David started venturing into the world of keeping horses barefooted rather than shoeing them.

David recalls '...back then, people laughed at me when I said that horses can effectively work barefooted if their hooves were properly shaped and maintained and that if you need extra hoof protection then put on a pair of hoof boots.'

Horse owners are no longer laughing as the horse world is rapidly embracing the 'barefoot movement'. This is evident from the rapid rise in the number of people making a very comfortable living from 'barefoot trimming'.

David believes in creating innovative equine products that will make a huge impact to both the comfort and performance of the horse and rider.
